CCIA Prepares for Emergencies

When an emergency call comes in, first responders have to be ready to react with the expertise that is required to save lives.  At the Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA), we work to make sure our staff and mutual aid partners are ready for the unexpected.

On Tuesday, March 8th at 9:00 a.m., CCIA will host an annual Table Top exercise that brings together emergency responders from all over Nueces County.

CCIA Table Top Exercise

March 8th, 2016

CCIA Conference Room, Second Floor of Terminal

9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

CCIA Public Safety (police, fire, EMT’s) would be first on the scene of an emergency at the airport. They would be quickly joined by first responders from all over the Coastal Bend. To fully practice the Airport’s Emergency plan, we invite representatives from area hospitals, the American Red Cross, the Corpus Christi Police and Fire departments, the Airlines that serve CCIA, and City, county and state emergency responders.

The scenario will involve a commercial plane crash on the airfield that will present many challenges to those who are called to respond. This exercise will allow participants to brush up on the airport’s Emergency Plan, discuss the challenges, and work through the hurdles that would likely arise. In the end, the experts in the room are sharing information, bringing new ideas to the table, and helping one another stay prepared for a real incident.

Media who would like to attend are welcome to join us in the CCIA conference room, just to the right of the TSA Checkpoint on the second floor of the Terminal. For more information contact CCIA Marketing Director Kim Bridger at (361) 774-7871 or kimb@cctexas.com
