Applicants Sought for Vacant City Council Position

The Corpus Christi City Council is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in filling the City Council position being vacated by At-Large Council Member Lillian Riojas, who recently accepted an employment offer in San Antonio, Texas.

According to the City Charter, the remaining council members must appoint a new council member to fill the vacant position. The City Council will be accepting applications from January 25, 2016 until February 29, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. 

Applications must be filed in the City Secretary’s Office and must include the following:

  • Application for Appointment to City Council;

  • Questionnaire;

  • City’s required Report of Financial Information;

  • Authorization and Disclosure Forms for Criminal Background Check

    The qualifications for the position are:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States;

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment;

  • Must not be a convicted felon;

  • Must not have been determined mentally incompetent by a final judgment of a court;

  • Must have been a resident of Texas for the past 12 months and of the City for 6 months; and

  • Must not owe delinquent taxes to the City.
