2017 Employee of the 4th Quarter

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Rachel Soliz, Maintenance Management Aide in the Parks and Recreation Department, has been named Employee of the 4th Quarter. Soliz received her award at a special employee recognition event organized by the City of Corpus Christi Learning Institute held recently at City Hall.

“This has been so overwhelming,” says Soliz, who has worked for the City for three years. “This is also so unexpected but it is really special.”

Soliz was nominated by her department’s administrative team which includes Parks and Recreation Superintendent Joshua Wentworth who praised her unwavering work ethic and positive attitude. Ortiz’s duties include working on park operations payroll, addressing HR issues, ensuring employee training requirements are met, and keeping operation manuals updated.

She also received recognition for her commitment to helping the community. Ortiz is involved in such notable projects as coordinating the Park Operation school supply drive and organizing a team of employees to take part in the Making Strides for Cancer Walk.

Soliz’ co-workers say even though she wears several hats, she always has a smile on her face.
